It has got Pontifical status and has got abbreviated title as MSJ. The first Sisters of St. Joseph came to America from Lyon, France in 1836. Founded at Le Puy, in Velay, France, by the Rev. Sisters of Saint Joseph have served Long Island for more than 169 years. We are a Catholic congregation of vowed women who are dedicated to loving and serving God and neighbor rooted in prayer, community living and the Gospel.
